My name is Jocelyn Harris,
I’m a photographer.

“Relax your face. Stop doing that THING with your eyebrows! Why are you smiling like that? Shift your head slightly to the left.. Come back just a little. Drop your chin to you shoulder. Turn to your left… Your other left. Place your hand on your thigh. Now hold that for me.” Any of this sound familiar? Well that’s pretty much what it sounds like with me in front of the camera.

I was always weird about having my photos taken, but because of my small frame and adorable face, people have always told me I would be a great model. The lies. I have accepted that I am entirely too goofy to stand in one spot and be fierce or sexy, while someone profusely snaps 1000 pictures of me. The struggle. Yet here I am… the weird girl with the awkward frame, crooked smile, and button nose giving those same directions that once upon a time I struggled with. Let’s just say, my struggle is part of the reason I decided I was meant to be on the other side of the camera.

But who am I? That’s a good question…

My name is Jocelyn Harris and I am a photographer located in the Indianapolis area. Outside of photography, I’d say my level of activeness is pretty bipolar. Some days I prefer to relax with a nice book, 3 wick candle, and just listen to music. You know, a Netflix and chill kind of vibe. Other days I’m on the move. Traveling, going to concerts, enjoying outdoor activities. Regardless of where I am, you can usually find me listening to music and dancing.

I was always into the arts but was never the artistic girl. Couldn’t sing, instruments were just not my thing, and I couldn’t draw a face that resembled an actual person to save my life. I envied how people were able to express themselves through art and as important as art was to me, I always wanted my own nitch. Funny story how my life spiraled into photography. From workshops to work space, what started as me just playing around with a camera eventually graduated into a passion and very fulfilling career. Some call it luck, I call it fate. Let’s just say I found my nitch. I could sit here and tell you all about how I got into photography or who I am as a person, but how do you really get to know someone based off of a bio. Best way to get to know me and learn how I got into photography would be to book with me, wouldn’t you agree?
